THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR ABUSE

Most people who abuse their spouses, dates, or partners do not assault their bosses, friends, or neighbours. Why? Because abuse is a choice.

Family Violence has no geographic boundaries. It occurs in rural areas as well as in urban centres.

NO ONE DESERVES TO BE ABUSED

If you or someone you know is being abused, please contact the Women's Interval Home

DID YOU KNOW:
  • Abuse often begins or gets worse during pregnancy.
  • Once violence has started it usually will not stop spontaneously.
  • Between 1977 and 1996, annually, an average of 105 men and women in Ontario were killed by their partners.
  • Living with fear can reduce self-esteem and can keep people from making even the simplest decisions.
  • Children who experience family violence may have learning difficulties, headaches, stomachaches, sleep problems, runaway behaviour, teen addiction problems, be abusive or be victims
