- The purpose of the program is to provide children with the opportunity to process and understand the violence and the abuse of power and control that they have witnessed.
- The group helps children identify and express emotions surrounding violence, separation, shame, guilt, and/or loss. The children learn to recognize their feelings and understand that their feelings are very important. Children are given opportunities to deal with their feelings constructively.
- Groups are appropriate for children between 4 and 16 years of age who have experienced any form of violence and abuse in their family.
- The group runs for eight to ten weeks after school hours. Free transportation is provided if necessary.
- Referrals to the program are received from parents/or agencies.
- Concurrent groups are offered for mothers to help assist their children in healing activities.
