- Most women deny their terror and the anger they feel.
- Many are traditional about the prescribed feminine sex roles.
- Most are very concerned with keeping their families together and supporting their partners and children TOTALLY.
- Most women are ashamed of their injuries.
- Most try to hide the fact that this is happening in their homes.
- Many women believe that this happens only to them and to no one else.
- Many women also believe that no one can help them.
- Women typically underestimate their ability to do things.
- Many do NOT believe that they can take care of themselves.
- Most women demonstrate incredible endurance in surviving and maintaining their "systems" (e.g.: children).
- Many women try to control their husband's anger and keep him from getting upset or annoyed.
- Women believe the myths about battering.
